Restore for Schools™

Restore for Schools™ is a trauma-informed school-based training curriculum designed by Highland experts to provide educators with the tools to restore their love for teaching. It provides training and consultation on effective strategies for :

  • Developing emotional regulation .
  • Crisis-response protocols .
  • Trauma-informed behavioral change approaches .
  • Creating school and district-wide policies for enhancing student and staff safety .

It is unique as the only trauma-informed school curriculum that dedicates a substantial amount of training time to promoting educator well-being and retention using evidenced-based stress reduction strategies, and by offering continuous online and in-person support throughout the school year.

Beyond the Call

Protecting and serving others, which is the demanding work of public safety professionals like police, paramedics, firefighters, correction officers, and mobile crisis workers, often leads to some of the highest rates of chronic stress and burnout. Agency leaders know that keeping these essential professionals psychologically and physically healthy requires more than just crisis and de-escalation training; they also need effective stress management tools and wellness strategies. Providing this comprehensive support is key to ensuring these professionals can continue to perform at their best.

This is where the Highland Training Institute comes in...

The training curriculum comes in a variety of packages to fit the training needs of your school district, and provide the following services:

  • Case Review: Meeting with staff to review complex student cases related to mental health/behavior and offering recommendations that follow trauma-informed and evidence-based best practices .
  • Policy Review: Reviewing school/district policies and procedures (including disciplinary protocols, staff scheduling, and human resources processes) to ensure they follow trauma-informed care principles and practices.
  • Assessment and Evaluation: Providing organizational assessments and evaluation services . This may include measuring staff stress and burnout, evaluating the effectiveness of interventions, assessing knowledge of trauma-informed care policies, and identifying areas for improvement and sustainability . (Additional fees may apply depending on the complexity .)
  • Employee Support and Retention: Meeting with educators individually or in small groups to discuss concerns about the profession, stress levels, and burnout, and providing tangible, evidence-based recommendations to improve mood and reduce stress.
  • Advanced Training: Providing additional training based on identified needs, such as stabilization skills for students, classroom management techniques, children's mental health, and clinical training for school counselors.
  • Architectural and Interior Design Review: Reviewing factors like environmental lighting, color, classroom setup, and student movement flow to assess their impact on student and faculty mental health, and providing recommendations based on research.

Our Services
  • Class Observations: Observing classroom dynamics, especially in classes with demonstrated behavioral problems, and providing feedback on improving behavior and the learning environment using trauma-informed care principles.
